I made an approximated batch of 5-1-1 mix using the following ingredients:

2 cu.ft. bag of GreenAll Microbark
12 qt. bag of Gardner & Bloome Perlite
12 qt. bag of Gardner & Bloome Peat Moss

In all the posts I've read about this mix, the amount of lime and fertilizer aren't very precise in proportion to the ratio.  A handful of this and that...  I'm hoping forum members could help in sizing up how much dolomite lime and Osmocote I should add to my batch.

Additionally, should I even add the Osmocote to the whole batch when I don't intend to use the full batch immediately?  I wouldn't want to activate it in the slightly moist mix.  Should I just add the Osmocote to each pot's full of mix?

Thanks!

This is the chart I use when adding Osmocote Pro.  I would add the amount needed to each container.

According to the recipe Tapla posted over at gardenweb (great info on water table and soil mixes btw with pages upon pages of info) it comes out to be just about one tablespoon of dolomitic lime and crf per gallon of soil mix.  That is what I have done and it has worked fantastic.

From what others have said, including ascPete who did a lot of posting on this site in the past, I am using a cup of the granular dolomitic limestone per 5g batch;  I don't think a tbsp. is very much.
I also use a cup of Espoma PlantTone or GardenTone per 5g batch as my fertilizer.
