Is this possible. Think it would be fun. Pin the figs down and box and ship. I want to try this. :-)

I tried this on 2 occasions last year, shipped them via Priority Mail.If memory
serves correct they took 3 days to get there on both occasions. The first time
I vacuum packed them nestled in paper towels.I think if they had taken 4 days
to get there I would have received a visit from Homeland Security for shipping an
explosive device. They released CO2,expanding the package to the size of a small
beach ball.Everything fermented. The second time I tried it I shipped wrapped in
newsprint so they could breath.Apparently dark and warm are ideal conditions for
mold because they were molded out on arrival. Both attempts were made late Aug.,
early Sept.

I thought to try again, allowing them to swim in lemon juice prior to shipping by
the second method but lost interest. If you're going to try shipping fresh figs I'd
advise packing some up as if you were shipping them and leaving them in an
environment that would mimic shipping conditions for the required shipping time.
At the end of that period open the package and see what you've got.

Wish it were possible, but sounds a bit unlikely. This is why the "fresh figs" in stores taste terrible.

I shipped some last year and they were fine. I sent them overnight though. Not cheap.
