This is a wonderful fig! I believe it comes from Balears Island,Mallorca,Spain and is Martinenca Rimada or Paratjal Rimada.I'm very close to have them both next season.    Marius

No, Dale.To be honest to you,it's about the "war" with my darling wife,about $30 protection for each tree(mulch,isolation,tarp...),and i have  60 trees inground around my house...every year,every fall....no more comment.That's the reason i have so big,so huge cuttings this year.

After three or four years,growing Excel in a 18 gal pot,i finaly decided last year to send it in fig heaven...very late cultivar,not suitable for the northeast region.

Mike,no more leaves and figs on november,the 12th, after the first frost,22 degrees for 3 days.I have this fig inground,near a brick wall,and survive two winters with very light protection.This will be the first winter when i will not protect anymore any of my inground fig trees!Too much work and money spend...will see.

Rare....last week i was in Hollywood and Hallandale,FL,and they had "Constantine" fig on every Walmart store.It is a yellow Celeste,or Celestial if you want.

This is Izbat an Naj fig,from Egypt.It is a 2 years old,very good producer.Figs are small,about 1'' diam with a strong pineapple/banana flavor.What's strange about this varietie is this: all my other fig trees have dropped their leaves and figs and this one is still green and ripening figs ...in oct 25th,zone 6 !!Thanks for looking.   Marius

Tonycm,i do have each varietie inground and potted in 18-35 gal pots.They perform much better in pots in zone 6.      Afigfan,St-Rita is something special in taste,jam/jelly with 100% berry flavor.

Peter...i have to admit...Martin is right,black/dark figs are the best tasting figs.        Mike,Black Madeira likes hot,long summers with dry weather.This is BM after 3 days of rain...

I'm glad you like it.We can see how the fig cultivars are "travelling" around the globe...Herman brought it here from East Europe years ago,many people has it here in US,and now Florea fig is present in South Korea...wonderful!!So...we have thanks to Herman for this beautiful and productive fig !
