This fig  is definitely not a Brown Turkey. It's a dark(black) fig and bigger in size than Brown Turkey. The story of this fig is pretty short. Was purchased in Germany by my brother in law(who lives over there),in 2009,near Stuttgart, having the label:" Grosse schwartze feige"-Giant black fig.I added the "german" word and voila...Giant Black German Fig.

Hi Nick. The answer is:first of all,i didn't remove any figs, being too "proud" of my litlle plant, and second,i went in vacation for 28 days and i had nobody to water my pots.  Marius

Hi Ed. Violette de Bordeaux is bigger in size, but Petite Aubique is more productive and early ripening. They taste identical, realy GOOD figs, but like i said,i had more than 60 figs on my 2 years old(in pot) Petite Aubique.Regarding how cold hardy they are,I have both of them inground also, and they die 80% every winter with a light protection,so...they are not cold hardy.  Marius

Vivian,i'm using aged manure from the farm, cow and horse manure, mixed with soil(50/50).I never buy bags of soil from the store...every season i'm bringing home one or two yards of black soil from the woods in a small trailer with the same amount of manure from a farm.No chemicals,no fertilizer of any kind...Marius

Yes Bill,it may be this.My plants got about 8-9 hours of sun every day,i mix the soil with 40%compost made by me from leaves, fine mulch, kitchen garbage and another 40% of aged cow, horse and chicken manure.I water my plants(figs) with the water from a small stream witch is behind my house,in the woods. This is why...they look(are) so healthy.Marius

Herman,i'll remove half of the figs right now.You know,it's very strange...it was a 10'' cutting in march, and now it's a 4' tall plant with 28 figs on it,with 2 figs on every node.I still can't find the picture with the mother tree from Italy(Benevento)...looks like a Sci-Fi think,i was stupefied when i first saw it,huge clusters of big black figs,2 figs on every leaf.   Marius
