Martin , if your figs in the garage survived teens or close to single digit temps. Would 30`s during night will damage them? (before buds start leafing out).

Well today I seen about a dozen of fig sticks in 2"x2" inch wide and about 4" long pots starting to leaf out.
I do need to find out what kind of soil they are using.

Martin,
They are in my VDB`s cup, I`m 90% think they are nematodes the only question I have is: are they good or bad ? Since I water my plants with rain water I could get them from water possibly. I just puled out my other fig out of pot and I couldn't see any of these tiny white worms.
I will keep this pot separately and see what happens,I `ve seen RNK infected roots mine so far does not show any signs.
I hope I have the good guys - http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.pelletlab.com/v5Files/pellet/204592/nematode.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.pelletlab.com/beneficial_insects&usg=__7u0EN_6WZQZ05OQZzhb8BHz9q9Q=&h=358&w=225&sz=12&hl=en&start=21&sig2=RaSSb6N_V6MoswBqs-nPKA&um=1&itbs=1&tbnid=lqNvouDbaXZxrM:&tbnh=121&tbnw=76&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dgood%2Bnematodes%2Bin%2Baquarium%26ndsp%3D18%26hl%3Den%26rlz%3D1T4TSHB_enUS234US234%26sa%3DN%26start%3D18%26um%3D1&ei=fjdsS7K2EqS2NO6g_MsE

nelson ,those on the pic above are same as got them too. I got this rooted cutting in a clear cup and about 2 weeks ago I noticed tiny roots, but while i was enjoying my success I noticed they`re moving :) . (you should seen my face when I realized whats going on).
The pic JD posted they look a lot thicker right ? The one we got are like human hair thick and no black heads.
Since I first seen these guys 2 weeks ago they did not multiplied a lot ,its about same amount I would say I can see around a cup maybe 20 pics.,and they are not getting any bigger either.
The best I can think of is to take the plant to some kind of botanic garden`s lab or something.
Does anybody knows how nematodes look like ?

I can feel it.There will be lots of spare cuttings after members of this forum starts trimming their fig trees  ;-).
It seems like good idea to keep it low to the ground especially in colder climates ,much easier to cover for winter protection.

I do have oil heater ,I will set it it up to keep above freezing temps. Have no desire to have dieback on branches.
Martin,
I have not yet watered my figs since I stored them in garage my smaller plant soil looks wet,but bigger plants (yours and my BT) I think they need a drink. Have you watered yours yet ?
:) this may sound weird but I water my plants with Rain water and at winter time I just get a bucket of snow and melt it  :)

This is my first winter with figs so right now I`m just hoping my figs will make it through the winter :-)
This year I am planing to start few different fig varieties from cuttings so I can`t expect too much this year it will take 1 or 2 years till they start bearing fruit.
Can`t stop waiting until my figs starts braking dormancy especially my big trees Martin`s unknown and Brown Turkey.

Georgi,
2 pots on the left was in the ground with pots.
2 pots on the right are brand new. (figs was in the ground without pots). When I transplanted figs the they dropped leaves sooner.
Next year I will keep all my figs in the pots.
Wood blocks under pots I have just to level pots. When it gets colder I will cover those figs with something to protect from cold winter air when garage doors opens.
This is my first winter with figs I hope I will do just fine :)
I will post pics next Spring once figs starts brake dormantcy.

Martin,
This is my 1 st year of growing figs. For past couple years I had " growing figs" on my mind I wanted to have a fig tree. Then one day I looked up on Goggle info about figs. I found GW forum I so that 1st week I probably spent 20 hours of reading posts about figs. Then I went to Ted`s greenhouse in Tinley Park IL and bought 3 fig plants. So I planted 2 trees in 5 gal pots and one in the ground to see difference in growth ,the one in the ground grew a lot more faster.
When I planted it I thought to live in the ground for Winter (wrap, cover like it should be done) and see what happens. This fig grew very nice and now I am not sure if I want to leave in ground or dig it and pot in container for Winter.
I also have Brown Turkey in the ground I may take risk and see if it will over Winter outside , I heard they`re hardy ?
I also tried to root few fig cuttings ,1st cutting that I rooted I gave it to my parents now its about 12" big and live in Lithuania I sure my parents will take good care of it.
Hoping to have long relationship of growing figs, and be more active on the forum.
That is my story.
