okay I have several cuttings starting to leaf out and develop branch structure. I used the homemade baggie method with medium in bag. Now I cannot see any root structure in any of my cuttings. could it just be stored energy in the wood??? Also new container with just a few in cups started this is getting addicting......BUT FUN......

had a problem with mold on a few cuttings that i had in the baggies.. If the cutting was to far down in the bag it had issues with air circulation and would mold... These bags were the seal a meal bags with potting mix in them.. The 1 gal. zip lock bags that I was air rooting cuttings in would mold.. I then started every 3-4 days removing the air inside the bags and blowing them up again no problems since i started reinflating them in this manner.

I have a few cuttings from an unidentified fig tree. The cuttings have started to sprout their first leaves. Can you identify the species from the first set of leaves.

okay so most start roots in the zip lock bags with moist papertowel. Then when roots are visable place them into the cups with planting media. Then from cups with solid root structure to pots and outdoors. I think I have it..

Now What if I have cuttings that I placed directly into media should I take them out and try to get roots in the bag first and start over or just leave them alone ans see what happens???

Okay just got a few new cuttings and placed them into the bags with potting mix of sphagnum, per lite, lime (generic seed starter mix) How long should it take at 68-70 degrees until I should start to see roots. The bags are seal a meal bags approx 2-3 inches wide and 11 inches tall with just the tips of the cuttings exposed. the cuttings look healthy and one has started to leaf out. I have cut one corner off the bottom of each bag to allow for drainage of excess water.   I would like to see a good root structure before I pot them up correct??? I am in New Jersey and it is still cold here until May. Slight mold issue on a few due to being too deep into the bag I just cleaned them up and cut the bag down to allow more air circulation. If I am doing something wrong let me know and I am looking for advice as this is all new to me.
