They are not the same. The only one I can speak for on taste is the bordeaux and it's the best tasting fig that I have. I bought it from edible landscapes.
Wow that's impressive nice work!
Oh yeah colt makes one hell of a rifle!!!! those green tips are one nasty round I sure as hell wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of one of those that's for sure!!!!
Hey Winston61 a wise man once told me the same thing except it was involving a bar. Never bring up politics or religion while drinking in a bar it almost always ends up in either a fist fight or at the very least a very heated argument!!!
Me too bro well said Jason sorry again!!!! rafed the 12 gauge is an amazing persuader!!!! I would send you my bushmaster AR/15 to take care of your problem but I don't think your neighbors would appreciate it nor would the ATF if I sent it by UPS lol!!!!!
Jason by no means was I trying to personally attack you with my comments and if I offended you in any way I'm truly sorry!!! The great thing about the country we call home is we all have our own opinions and idealogies!!! This is an extremely sensitive subject and I'm truly sorry if my comments offended anyone!!!! ok enough of the religion and politics lets get back to the FIGS!!!!
I'm not going to get into a political debate here but I will say that if your family or friends were directly effected with what happened on 9/11 I'm sure you would be singing a different tune!!!! Can you inform me how I called you names and insulted you???? I will do what I do???? Who said you were weak???? Seems to me that you took my comments way out of context.
Rafed I think I LOVE YOU!!!! lol even though we have never "formally" met!!!! Thanks for the love figluvah!!!! To Dom God bless you my brother!!!! My aunt and uncle lost there best friend in the towers who worked for Cantor Fitzgerald also!!!!
good point rafed!!!! Hey Wiston61 settle down it's called FREE speach it's one of the founding principles that this GREAT country was founded on!!!!!
May God have mercy on his soul???? WTF???? That's the problem too many bleeding hearts in America did Osama have mercy on all the innocent people he killed and tortured???? I think not!!!! What's done is done but he would have been more valuable alive than dead and thats a fact. I'm happy for our military that all of there hard work has finally paid off!!!! I know we can never bring back all the people we lost on 9\11 or all the military people who made the ultimate sacrafice for this GREAT country we call the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA God bless our troops!!!! I thank you from the bottom of my heart!!!! At least we all can rest our heads at night knowing that there is one less piece of radical filth on this planet!!!! May his soul burn in hell for ETERNITY!!!! GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!
its a figlet you should cut it off because if you leave it on the plant will use alot of it's stored energy on making the fig larger when the plant should be focusing all it's energy on root and leaf development, welcome to the forum, Will
well put jason
Ken those are really high in protein if you were on the show survivor that grub would be the equivalent of a filet mignon!!!! lol
Herman I recently won an auction on ebay that you had for altreano cuttings you also included 2 free cuttings that were marked H.T. I was just wondering what variety they are???? Thanks again for the free cuttings and the speedy delivery and careful packaging of the cuttings!!! Thanks, Will
sphagnum moss is the key!!!! You will lose a very few if any by using the zip lock bag and moss technique. I used to try and root cuttings by sticking them in soil but I had terrible results. Go with the moss trust me you will not be dissappointed. just my two cents I'm no pro by any means GO UCONN!!!!
thanks Noss for your concern as soon as the weather warms up a little I plan on repotting it and changing the soil hopefully that will help it thanks again for your insight every suggestion helps bud!!!!!
Does anyone have cuttings of sicilian black and portuguese black if so please send me a message I'm willing to pay by paypal or I can send you a check thanks, Will
My all time fav is my violette de bordeux and my hardy chicago comes in at number 2 I hear sals is really good but mine is still too small to produce any quality figs just yet.
Noss I still have it in the original pot that it was shipped in and the soil seems really dark. I have been meaning to transplant it but I have been putting it off because I have been busy taking care of my newly rooted cuttings and have also been busy watching my beloved uconn huskies make a run in the ncaa tournament. GO HUSKIES!!!!!!!
Noss I bought the tree last year from edible landscapes I kept it in the shade because there was a note in with the plant when it was shipped that said to keep it in the shade because it was not yet hardened off. Thats exactly what I did and all the leaves fell off it and all the new green growth died. I was going to contact E.L. about the problem but after a few week it started to show signs of life and I did heavily fertilize it but it is growing at a snails pace and it's starting to frustrate the HELL out of me!!!! It is in a pot and I think it's a couple yers old because its about 3 feet tall.
I have a lsu purple from edible landscaping and mine is heavily infected with fmv it is a virus that effects the growth of the tree and development of the leaves it will not kill the tree but it can be transmitted to other fig trees if you are not careful after pruning it with shears make sure you disinfect the shears with alcohol so as not to transmit it to any other fig trees it is also incurable!!!
Why what is the problem?????
A 12 gauge shotgun works every time!!!!!
No problem just shoot me a message if you have trouble finding it!! I have no problem at all sending you some and don't worry about the money I'm sure you might be able to help me out in the future one hand washes the other!!!

I noticed the same thing with my italian honey cuttings from hermansur! They were very quick to root and are growing very fast!!!!
wow that sounds great I have a cousin that lives down in georgia and he keeps telling me to come and visit!!!! I have spent alot of time in southern florida and have driven by the georgia coast line a couple of times and it really looks beautiful I might have to take him up on his offer and hook up with you for some speck fishing!!!!
hang in there spring is just around the corner!!!!! I have been itching to get a fishing rod in my hand and go for a blast on the quad!!!!! In no time we will be complaining about how hot it is!!!!!
no problem bro!!!
I forgot to say that I live in Connecticut on the shore!!!
Rob I bought one last year along with a violette de bordeaux!! I have to say edible landscaping's packaging of the fig trees is pretty impressive they put them in a big cardboard box then put a large piece of bamboo pole in order to prevent the box from being crushed. The hardy chicago is a must have and is extremely hardy but the violette de bordeux is hands down the best tasting fig I have ever eaten and if you don't own one you have to put it on the list as a MUST have!!! I would take pictures of the H.C. but there isn't much to see because it is dormant however I can tell you that it grows like a weed and is extremely cold hardy and does great stored for the winter in my cold garage!!!! Get one of each you will not be disappointed!!!!! Hope this answers your question!!! Good luck this season with your fig trees!!
Hey Ben I got the box of cuttings all I can say is WOW you were not kidding when you said a whole box of cuttings!!!!! This works out perfect now I can get them rooted and pass them out to all the family members on the italian side of my family that I have been promising trees to!!! Thanks again for the gracious offer I couldn't be any happier!!! Good luck with all your gardening this year!!
Hey Ben I hope you got the check I sent out to you. Thanks again in advance for the cuttings I can't wait to get them and start rooting them!!! Thanks you are the man!!!!!
Hey I'm def interested in your cuttings could you private message me with your address and I will send you a check or if you would prefer I could send you money for the postage through paypal. Thanks, Will
New Haven connecticut is about to get pounded by 18 inches of snow!!!! Guess I should have came home from florida a week later than I did
Wow that is some serious fig porn!!!!!!! I need to get out of the frigid tundra called connecticut and move down south so I can have fresh figs all year long!!!!!
brooklyn white, brooklyn dark, + LSU gold
dont put them in the fridge wait till the roots are visible coming out of the bottom of the paper towel then you can transplant it into a small pot be carefull because the roots are very delicate. You will need a soil mix that has more perlite in it than soil so the roots get good drainage to prevent rot. buy a small grow lamp from lowes or home depot and put it above the newly potted cuttings a 2 liter soda bottle with the botoom cut out of it and place it over the pot with the cap on it this will help act as a little greenhouse that will keep the moisture in. hope this helps
where are the rattlesnakes when you need them?
