They are not the same.  The only one I can speak for on taste is the bordeaux and it's the best tasting fig that I have. I bought it from edible landscapes.

Hey Winston61 a wise man once told me the same thing except it was involving a bar. Never bring up politics or religion while drinking in a bar it almost always ends up in either a fist fight or at the very least a very heated argument!!!

I'm not going to get into a political debate here but I will say that if your family or friends were directly effected with what happened on 9/11 I'm sure you would be singing a different tune!!!!  Can you inform me how I called you names and insulted you???? I will do what I do???? Who said you were weak???? Seems to me that you took my comments way out of context.

its a figlet you should cut it off because if you leave it on the plant will use alot of it's stored energy on making the fig larger when the plant should be focusing all it's energy on root and leaf development, welcome to the forum,  Will

sphagnum moss is the key!!!!  You will lose a very few if any by using the zip lock bag and moss technique.  I used to try and root cuttings by sticking them in soil but I had terrible results.  Go with the moss trust me you will not be dissappointed.  just my two cents I'm no pro by any means GO UCONN!!!!

Hey satellitehead that is one huge lemon tree WOW!!!  I have a small one that my mother gave me for my birthday but it was a weak year for lemons this past year!  I also have a lemon tree that I started from seed from a smuggled amalfi lemon that I bought when I was in italy a few years back.  I know alot of people say that a lemon tree grown from seed will never bear fruit but I figured it dosen't hurt to try and every time I glance at the tree it reminds me of the beautiful amalfi coast and the wonderful family trip to my grandmothers birth place.  If you have any suggestions of things I can do to make my lemon trees more productive please let me know!!!!

Noss I still have it in the original pot that it was shipped in and the soil seems really dark.  I have been meaning to transplant it but I have been putting it off because I have been busy taking care of my newly rooted cuttings and have also been busy watching my  beloved uconn huskies make a run in the ncaa tournament.  GO HUSKIES!!!!!!!

Noss I bought the tree last year from edible landscapes I kept it in the shade because there was a note in with the plant when it was shipped that said to keep it in the shade because it was not yet hardened off.  Thats exactly what I did and all the leaves fell off it and all the new green growth died.  I was going to contact E.L. about the problem but after a few week it started to show signs of life and I did heavily fertilize it but it is growing at a snails pace and it's starting to frustrate the HELL out of me!!!!  It is in a pot and I think it's a couple yers old because its about 3 feet tall.

fig mosaic virus is what fmv means hope this helps if the plant is heavily infected than it may stunt the growth of the plant don't be too worried about it because it is a pretty common problem!!

I have a lsu purple from edible landscaping and mine is heavily infected with fmv it is a virus that effects the growth of the tree and development of the leaves it will not kill the tree but it can be transmitted to other fig trees if you are not careful after pruning it with shears make sure you disinfect the shears with alcohol so as not to transmit it to any other fig trees it is also incurable!!!

Rob I bought one last year along with a violette de bordeaux!!  I have to say edible landscaping's packaging of the fig trees is pretty impressive they put them in a big cardboard box then put a large piece of bamboo pole in order to prevent the box from being crushed.  The hardy chicago is a must have and is extremely hardy but the violette de bordeux is hands down the best tasting fig I have ever eaten and if you don't own one you have to put it on the list as a MUST have!!!  I would take pictures of the H.C. but there isn't much to see because it is dormant however I can tell you that it grows like a weed and is extremely cold hardy and does great stored for the winter in my cold garage!!!!  Get one of each you will not be disappointed!!!!!  Hope this answers your question!!!  Good luck this season with your fig trees!!

what kind of fig cuttings are you trying to grow?

Subject: Fig tree prapagation Replies: 5

dont put them in the fridge wait till the roots are visible coming out of the bottom of the paper towel then you can transplant it into a small pot be carefull because the roots are very delicate.  You will need a soil mix that has more perlite in it than soil so the roots get good drainage to prevent rot. buy a small grow lamp from lowes or home depot and put it above the newly potted cuttings a 2 liter soda bottle with the botoom cut out of it and place it over the pot with the cap on it this will help act as a little greenhouse that will keep the moisture in. hope this helps
