So I was able to get my Hardy Chicago onto the three season porch before the temp went into the low 20s. But I was unable to cover the one that has been in the garden for 9 years and usually freezes to the ground. I cut the nice long shoots off at the snow line and I would like use them as cuttings. I usually cut them I march off my stored potted plants and I would like to know if I am able to store them until Feb or March. Any storage tips are appreciated.

I haven't pruned my thirteen year old hardy Chicago in 3 years, and it needs to be root pruned and put in a bigger pot also. I bought a new pot, soil, perlite, and some root riot cubes, ect. We left for a week long vacation and there was still 6 inches of snow on the ground when we left and my tree was still dormant. While we were gone we had 65 degree temps and the leaf buds now look like they are opening. Can I still prune , repot and propagate?

Hello!
I just found this forum and think it's great. This was the first year that I dug a trench and overwintered my Hardy Chicago in the garden. When I removed the straw and earth I found that mice had eaten the bark around the bases of the branches. I thought I would be starting from scratch bot the branches have leafed out. They look completely girdled, and I was wondering if they will only get so big and die or can they get by like this. Should I cut off the branches and try to root them with some rooting hormone, ( is this posible?). Any help please.

Thanks Rog
