Thanks. Yes, dehydration is a definite item here. I picked everything left today. Will have to buy some prosciutto and have snacks with our "sun-downer" tonight!

No, but I can go take some. The tree is healthy as a "horse" although some of the leaves get a little droopy with the 115F sun beating on them in the afternoon.

We live in Palm Springs. Our tree is an Improved Brown Turkey, in the ground about 3 years. This year we got double the crop of last year but the fruit is not very juicy. I would say they are mostly dry.
The tree gets full sun and is on a drip system that gives it water three days a week. Soil is desert sand/loam. I fertilized in February this year.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Anziani

Ruben,
Unfortunately the evidence has been eaten (each wrapped with a slice of prosciutto) I'll just assume it is a "unifara". We will wait until next year. Thanks for straightening me out.

Ruben
Now I get it. A San Piero is a Type of fig that sets twice.  One crop is probably all I will get.

thanks,

Ruben,
Now I'm confused. I have an Improved Brown Turkey. Is the San Piero the same under a different name?
I fertilized only in Spring when the new growth started. Nothing since then.
I'll go back and review "brega".
Thanks,
Neil M.

Hi,
I have a three year old "Improved Brown Turkey" IO live in the Palm Springs, CA area where the summers are 105+  This year we got a great early crop (Brega?)  I was under the impression that there would be a second crop this summer. Didn't happen. Out side of a few sun burnt leaves the tree is healthy and growing. It gets plenty of water in the sandy soil.
Am I mistaken about two crops?

Thanks again Ken. Yes, I have mulched the root zone well. Looks like I will just wait it out. I have done all I can.

Thanks Ken, How old is your tree? Mine was in a 15 gallon container and this is the second year in the ground.

We live in the Palm Springs area and planted a locally raised Improved Brown Turkey last year. This year it took off like a shot with 6-10" of new growth and some fruit. The fruit gets larger but then just stops growing and finally falls off. Is this normal and is there a second crop on the way?
The tree gets plenty of HOT sun and is on a bubbler system with additional watering's during the week. Leaves get a little limp by sundown but are right back in the morning.
A dilute fish fertilizer is added once a month.
Anything else I should be doing?
Thanks
